Hotel Huerta Honda*** is located at the heart of the city of Zafra, along Ruta de la Plata.
It is full of stories in every corner. From its name to the legends and tales that surround its facilities. This elegant, charming, pleasant and tranquil hotel stands upon an old allotment located on a deep catchment area. This was dig inside the walled enclosure of the city, known as Sevilla la Chica.
That elliptic belt made of stone was constructed in the 1437 under the commands of Gómez Suárez de Figueroa, First Lord of Feria. It took around fourteen years to build its six meters height. Inside it, it was built a colossal castle that would be home of the Villa’s lords.
The material used to build the rampant, the walls and the towers was obtained from the floors closed by the rampant. This expropriation left a hole of remarkable dimensions that soon after was filled with soil. On that “improvised allotment” were planted and grown all kind of vegetables, such as large stalk chards, lettuce and pumpkins, that were served to the nobles.
On the other hand, a spring arose as a consequence of the dig and it watered the fertile allotment.
But, most important, you will able to rest at our wonderful rooms and suites that will make time travel.
It is not a coincidence that Zafra is a mandatory point to stop and rest on the peninsular west. From the first prehistoric settlings at the mountain chain of El Castellar to the Medieval Age with the Muslim presence, or the Christian reconquest taken to our land by Fernando III The Saint. The culture of the settlers and their traditional entrepreneur spirit made Zafra a point where to travel back in time without changing the place.
Here you are not going to feel alone. There is no better travel companion than the History of the people. It is present in its heritage and, over all, in its people.
